Mikka Häkkinen blev världsmästare i formel 1 efter att ha segrat i Suzuka i Japan. Hans seger medförde att Mclaren-stallet vann sin åttonde konstruktörstitel. Mikael Schumacher måste bryta under 32 varvet.

Mikka Hakkinen won his first Formula one title after winning the race in Suzuka in Japan.Mika winning the title gave Mclaren the constructors championship for the eight time.

Michel Schumacher went out of the race on lap 32.
